The behaviour of Audiences has changed significantly in last 10 years, as before we just used to watch or listen and then consume, but now in last 10 years it’s all changed and now “we” interact with what we watch or listen. This strongly signifies that we as audience are not just consumers and passive listeners. Since the introduction of Internet which is now the most powerful tool available, it has made it easier for audiences to share and express their point of view on how programs should be produced and what makes a program more attractable to them. Many social media websites have now opened up the path for audiences to become more active and engaging. So now Television and radio producer have to ensure that their work is made available on social media website (Online) so it can be accessed by audiences whenever they want to.
Internet has giving audiences the power to assess what they watch and when they want to watch. This just shows the great level of impact that internet has on today’s society; 10 years ago audiences could only watch and listen to a program once but now since internet took control, it all changed; now producers have taken a step forward and uploaded all of their programs online so audiences can watch and listen whenever they want to (on different devices). Social networking (facebook and twitter) websites also play a major role in promoting a TV or radio show. Using these two major social networking sites audiences can directly engage in conversation with producers to express their point of view and interact with other viewers from all across the globe.
Many people from around the world stream sporting and other events online, which are then watched by many people who don’t have TV or satellite. People with more popularity started making money through streaming online. There are many popular streaming websites which allow people to watch different satellite channels and also engage in communication with people who are also watching the same channel (Community establishment).
When TV’s were first introduced they were black and white but now it’s all changed with the dramatic changes in technology world. Now we have HD built in TV’s which provide us with high resolution and we also have 3D TV’s. These smart TV’s allow audiences to connect to internet and interact with people and also watch programs which are being downloaded from the internet. The introduction of plasma screen TV’s has turned a house into a cinema. These changes have allowed audiences to fully experience what they see and assess at the same time.
Nowadays, we have so many radio stations available to which we can tune in at anytime but 10 or so years ago there were only few radio stations. This is huge change from past to present where we have so many radio station to which we can listen to on the internet, car or on TV satellite. Many radio stations have their own personal website which we can use to tune into the radio. Currently it’s mostly the younger generation who listen to the radio stations. Those people who are in-charge of radio stations can take advantage of online social networking websites to allow their audiences to engage in conversation and express their point of view. They can also look out for talented singers who upload their videos on YouTube and on other social media websites. Radio stations can take full advantage of this and can promote those talented singers to increase their popularity ratings.
